Here is the LINK for a small video explaining Title V. The video is a question and answer session about the program with some mostly elementary school footage included. Download it and use it! The video will at least get people's attention and as you know, every little bit helps! |
About
Us:
The
Title V National Steering Committee is an organization dedicated to furthering
the goals of the Title V program of No Child Left Behind, and the Improving
America's Schools Act of 1994. The Committee seeks to accomplish this
through active advocacy for children in alliance with various interested
constituencies
and implementation of the results of this advocacy through the
targets of the Title V program in all 50 states and United States
territories. The Title V National Steering Committee is composed of
representatives of state departments of education from all 50 states and
territories. The committee meets bi-annually, with the spring meeting
convening in Washington, DC in order to discuss and take action on pending
congressional legislation, and also to update the membership on changes in US
Department of Education programs. Staff from the Office of Elementary and
Secondary Education (OESE) at the US Department of Education are always in
attendance, and provide the majority of speakers for the conference.
Speakers from other constituencies such as the Committee for Education Funding
(CEF) and the US Catholic Conference are typically in attendance also.
Additionally, new members of the committee receive a short orientation as to the
mission of the Title V National Steering
Committee.
Typically, the spring meetings of the committee
contain a full schedule of presentations by representatives of different
constituent groups mentioned above, briefings from congressional staffers on
issues pertinent to Title V, and demonstrations from committee members showing
examples of the application of
the Title V program in their respective
state, i.e. electronic grant applications, etc.
